CODES OF CONDUCT
Ridge Baseball Club has codes of conduct for Coaches, Players, Parents and Spectators. If everyone acts within the guidelines of the Codes of Conduct, a fun and memorable baseball experience can be had by all. Violation of the Codes of Conduct may result in disciplinary action in accordance with RBC's Disciplinary Policy.
As a player in Ridge Baseball Club I understand that I am expected to abide by the Player’s Code of Conduct guidelines described below:
- I will respect the game, my teammates, my coaches and the umpires.
- I will never argue an umpire’s call or make comments to an umpire from the field or bench.
- I will never argue a coach’s decision.
- I will settle disagreements with coaches and other players in a confidential / private manner after games and practices and away from other players.
- I will never fault other players when mistakes occur.
- I understand that swearing, throwing equipment and other similar conduct is not allowed.
- I will always try my best to be in control of my temper.
- I will work hard for myself and my team.
- I will take pride in myself and everything I do on the ball field.
- I will make ever effort to maximize my playing ability.
- I will lead by being an example for my teammates.
- I will always play by the rules.
Each manager and coach will ensure that his/her coaching conduct is that of an adult, with the best interests of every ball player and Ridge Baseball Club. To satisfactorily meet these responsibilities, each manager and coach is expected to:
- Know the rules and abide by them.
- Instruct team members on the rules and coach his/her team in such a way as to motivate each player to compete according to the rules at all times.
- Ensure the health and safety of all players, including by adhering to all pitch count rules, and in the absence of rules, act in the best interest of player heath and longevity regardless of the situation.
- Act at all times to protect the principles of fun, safety and development of all athletes.
- Respect the umpires and refrain from questioning their decisions in a disrespectful or abusive manner.
- Ensure that the players and spectators follow game and practice facility rules and regulations.
- Ensure that fans of his team conduct themselves with sportsmanship and maturity at all times while in attendance at game/practice sites; assist the umpires in maintaining control of spectators during the games.
- Respect the manager, coaches and players of the opposing team both during the play of the game and at its conclusion, win or lose.
- Teach each player, especially through personal example, to be humble and generous in victory and proud and courteous in defeat.
- Maintain control of his/her emotions and avoid actions, language, and/or gestures that may be interpreted as hostile and humiliating. Use of foul or abusive language in the vicinity of players is not permitted.
- Refrain from the use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco products or other illegal substances at games, practices and all other RBC team events.
- Instruct team support personnel (e.g., assistant coaches, scorekeepers, team parents) in their responsibilities in accordance with established rules.
- Realize, accept, and practice the principal that a team’s reputation is built not only on its playing ability, but also on its sportsmanship, courtesy, and manner.
Each parent or spectator will ensure that his/her conduct at all games and practices is that of a mature adult and in the best interests of every ball player and Ridge Baseball Club. To satisfactorily meet these responsibilities, every spectator is expected to:
- Respect the rules of the game.
- Respect the umpires, managers, coaches and players and refrain from questioning their decisions or from addressing them in a loud, disrespectful or abusive manner.
- Cheer for their team in a positive, supportive manner, refraining at all times from making hostile, negative, or abusive remarks about the opposing team.
- Adhere to all practice/game facility rules and regulations.
- Demonstrate appropriate gestures of sportsmanship at the conclusion of a game, win or lose.
- Realize, accept, and practice the principal that a team’s reputation is built not only on its playing ability, but also on the sportsmanship, courtesy, and citizenship of its fans.
- Refrain from the use of alcoholic beverages, tobacco products or other illegal substances at games, practices and all other RBC team events.
